Q: Take us back to what your life was like before joining the TBBC Program?
A: Prior to joining TBBC, I was not feeling well physically or emotionally. Each day was a struggle with stress and anxiety. My cholesterol was high and I had joint and body aches every day. I was on an emotional roller coaster due to work stress and personal life struggles. I was exhausted all the time.
Q: Why did you end up deciding to join the TBBC program?
A: I was advised by my doctor to get involved with some type of activity for physical and social benefits. While scrolling through Facebook, I came across one of the TBBC challenges in August 2016 and felt it might be a good opportunity. I knew I had to make a change.
Q: What was your first impression from the TBBC program?
A: The first person I met was Sam Gilchrist. Speaking to and meeting Sam was so welcoming; I felt I was in the right place at the right time. Her positive energy and excitement was great. My first few classes were eye opening in that I didn’t realize how out of shape I was or how long it had been since I did any type of exercise. After the first week, most of my classes were with Bill Powers. His constant support and sense of humor kept me going even when my body thought otherwise. There were many days that were a struggle for many reasons, but knowing I had a partner to help me on this new journey is a huge part of my success.
Q: What aspects/tools of TBBC have benefited you the most?
A: Coaching, coaching and more coaching! Each class there is something to learn from; a nutrition tip from Billy H.; advice on better form or next steps from Bill, a reminder about personal goals to strive for from Kathy or exercise tips from KC.
Listening to smart advice from Billy H, “Slow and steady wins the race; consistency makes the difference; make one change at a time and build on that, or we all have a bad day but you keep going.”
Knowledge is a key component to making better choices. I have always been a person to ask why and TBBC has a wealth of information to share about all different aspects of nutrition and fitness. I’ve learned to look at what is in our food and ultimately our body. I am learning what my body needs to feel and look better. And I am loving the benefits of being strong and feeling healthy.
Q: How is the TBBC program different from other programs you have tried before? What makes TBBC different or unique?
A: One of the greatest things about TBBC is there SO much support from the coaches and fellow warriors without judgment. The family vibe makes TBBC stand above all the rest. Each coach takes time to get to know you on a personal level and not just as a client. I believe that adds to our success as clients and your success as a business.
Q: Walk us through your journey. What results and benefits have you experienced in the TBBC Program?
A: I have been a part of TBBC for one year and seven months. I enjoy every day at TBBC for the laughter and friends I’ve made along the way. I have seen my self esteem and confidence return while losing pounds and inches. My cholesterol numbers have come down although I don’t know my current numbers and my anxiety and stress levels have diminished to the point where I no longer take medication. Prior to joining TBBC I struggled to lose 20 pounds with diet alone. After joining TBBC, I’ve lost another 20 pounds and have maintained that loss. Even though I try to ignore the scale, I still like to know my current weight. The best part is the changes in clothing sizes. To date I am down 4 sizes; from a size 18 to a size 10 and my journey continues. I always joke about finding body parts that I haven’t seen in years; collarbones, ribs, cheekbones. It’s so great to see some muscle definition and shape to my body other than just round!
