I have a confession to make. I am your fitness and nutrition expert and I had pizza and ice cream within 2 days of each other.
On Sunday, I took my 6 year old daughter Alyssa on a “Daddy Daughter” date. She wanted to go for ice cream.
She looked at me with her beautiful blue eyes and said, “Daddy, what flavor are you getting?” I couldn’t tell her, “Nothing. It’s not in my fitness plan.” She knows I usually eat really healthy and sharing that ice cream with her was a great memory. I have no regrets.
Then 2 days later, I had back to back appointments and then an event to attend with Melissa. On the menu was pizza. It was either pizza or nothing. So I decided on the vegetable pizza.
Although I want to make effective food choices, it’s OK to break the rules once in a while.
Sometimes being overly strict or obsessive can be just as damaging as the reverse.
In my case, I decided to make up for it by eating “clean” the rest of the week. I have other situations this week where I can justify “relaxing the rules” but at the same time, there will always be something.
With the summer almost here, it will get harder to stay on track. There are just so many parties and all. My advice is to pick and choose which ones you’ll go to and/or relax the rules a bit. Just remember what’s important to you as well as your goals.
